TT+ - on trainers' role, needs and development

A Framework for the Continuing Professional Development of Trainers

Project Objectives

The specific aims of this EU Leonardo project are to:
· Examine the contexts in which training takes place in enterprises and who has responsibility for the training function
· Examine the role of individuals in the workplace and in wider communities of practice in supporting learning
· Examine present policies and provision for the training of trainers and consider their effectiveness
· Develop and articulate a framework for the continuing professional development of trainers
· Examine different measures and mechanisms for implementing the professional development framework
· Explore articulation and linkages between the Framework for Continuing Professional Development and the European Qualification Framework
· Propose policies and measures for implementing the Framework for Continuing Professional Development as a key component of part of the European Qualification Framework.

It aims at developing a common framework of reference for the competences and qualifications of trainers in vocational education, at investigating policies and provision for the training of trainers, and at articulating a Framework for Continuing Professional Development.
The proposal is for a Reference Material project to examine the issues involved in the training and professionalisation of trainers in the European Member States.

The further aims of the project are to plan an infrastructure for implementing the framework, through proposing methods for providing learning opportunities and for recognising that learning and articulating the training the trainers as part of the European Qualification process. Eventually, the projects hope to develop a blueprint and roadmap for implementing future European and national policies and initiatives in this field.
