EU - Fifth Framework Programme - Thematic Network
"Towards the European Society"

Challenges for Education and Training Policies and Research in Europe

The Thematic Network focuses on the impact of the social, political and economic integration of the European societies, including the integration of the accession countries on the policy agenda of E&T in Europe. It reflects on the consequences of the Internationalisation and Europeanisation of E&T for European policies and transnational research in the policy domain.

Project Duration: 2001 - 2003

Methodology and Implementation
Three major policy and research issues constitute the thematic domains of the network:
Thematic domain 1 – modus vivendi
E&T policies between internationalised challenges and national systems, traditions, cultures, values and policies.
Thematic domain 2 – modus transitorius
E&T in candidate countries: adjusting (to) the acquis communautaire while in a period of transition towards the labour market in a market economy.
Thematic domain 3 – modus operandi
E&T research agenda and policy input (preparing) for a larger and deeper EU: establishing a transnational community of knowledge and practice based on a diversity of instruments and research traditions to facilitate innovation in E&T"

So far six workshops have taken place in the countries of project partners.
Every workshop was and will be dedicated to a certain domain or an upcoming reasearch topic.
The network is accessible for everybody who is interested.
Public information and project outputs are posted on the project homepage.
