Born in Vienna, Austria, I studied Social Anthropology and Hispanic Studies at the University of Vienna. Later on, as a central theme of my dissertation, I worked on the production of Spanish scientific texts concerning the Bubis of Bioko (formally Fernando Poó, Equatorial Guinea) receiving my PhD. in 1995 from the University of Vienna, Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology. During the next years, I had a post-doctoral contract from the Viennese Institute to work on the evolution of the discipline of anthropology in Spain (Urban Anthropology, Oral History, etc). Since 1999, I have concentrated my interests on Urban Anthropology. From 2000 to 2002, I worked in the Departamento de Antropología de España y América, CSIC, with a post-doctoral contract from the Community of Madrid. There I had the pleasure coming in contact with Matilde, Margarita and Caridad. During time, I researched and observed urban green public space and forms of park use among urban citizens in Madrid. Since 2002, I have worked at the UNED (National University of Distance Education) as an Assistant Professor, teaching “History and Theories in Anthropology”. My current investigation stresses the situation of citizens’ involvement in the transformation of urban public space. |
